Of course I pitched the idea around 7:00 p.m. and Rachel informed me that she needed to be back before 9:00 a.m. to show some apartments the following morning. Within twenty minutes we packed up our backpacks with just the necessities: sleeping bags, pad, tarp, and tent. Rachel would not go unless she could bring her pillow. I unwillingly allowed it, only because she threatened not to come if she had to rest her head on the ground.
